CLIENT: MEMCOMPUTING
SECTOR: TECH
YEAR: 2018
MY ROLE: BRANDING, UX/UI, WEB DESIGN, 3D, PRODUCT VISUALIZATION
Overview Company
MemComputing is a cutting-edge tech company based in San Diego, CA, revolutionizing industries with its disruptive MemCPU™ Coprocessor technology. This innovation accelerates the time to find feasible solutions for the most complex optimization problems across all sectors. MemComputing partners with some of the biggest names, including NASA, Lockheed Martin, Chevron, BP, and the United States Air Force.
Challenge
I developed a comprehensive brand identity for the company, its products, and the UI/UX for the SaaS product and website. The goal was to ensure a cohesive and engaging experience across all touchpoints. Here’s how I approached it:
UI / UX
Overview
MemComputing offers a SaaS product that simulates a physical computer chip, accelerating the time to find feasible solutions for the most complex optimization problems across all sectors. The main users are scientists. The SaaS had a v0.3 interface, but it wasn't easy or intuitive to use. The challenge was to create an interface that is easy, physiologically organic, and visually appealing. Scientists, who use the platform, deal with large amounts of data and results, analyzing and comparing solutions. To address this, I interviewed various scientists to understand how their minds work and their daily workflow. My goal was to turn 7 clicks into 3 easy steps. After designing the new UI/UX, user speed increased by 64%, making the platform very easy and intuitive for current users and facilitating the experience for new clients.
The Website
Overview
I designed the website to be user-friendly and visually appealing, with a modern, futuristic look that showcases the company’s cutting-edge technology. The focus was on providing comprehensive information to educate new clients about the company while keeping existing clients and partners updated on products, achievements, breakthroughs, publications, case studies, white papers, blogs, and resources.
Logo Design
The company has four cutting-edge computer chips that needed some standout branding. I set out to design logos that capture the essence of their advanced technology and futuristic innovation. Each chip tackles unique challenges: MemCPU, MemGPU, MemCPU Neural Network (NN), and MemCPU 5G. The focus is on B2B clients and enhancing the United States Government's national security efforts.
Chip & Saas
Overview
When I joined the company, they already had a main logo, “The Arrow Logo.” My role was to design the logos for the computer chips and the SaaS service. The SaaS service emulates the computer chip, so I had the idea of slicing the first letter “M” and creating a “V” in the middle. This design made sense because the SaaS is a virtual MemCPU chip, so the “V” symbolizes its virtual nature.
Original Logo:
Colors
Overview
The color palette was initially based on the CEO’s original logo color. I suggested adding more shades to the brand, using colors associated with trust, modernity, and technology. This enhanced the visual appeal and reinforced the brand’s identity.
